[LansingStateJournal.com] 10/29/2009, St Johns, MI -- "Police are investigating an incident Thursday during which a man in a full-size van asked boy waiting at a bus stop to approach the van."
"Police are not sure about the man’s intentions, but are treating it as a possible attempted abduction, said Michael Madden, director of public safety for St. Johns. No other similar incidents have been reported, Madden said."
"The man 'said he wanted to show (the boy) something,' Madden said."
"It happened at about 8:55 a.m. at a bus stop in the 400 block of Swegles Street, he said."
"The boy, who Madden said is a 6th-grader at St. Johns Middle School, immediately ran away and was not hurt."
“'He did exactly what his mother and everyone else taught him to do – he ran to grandma’s,' Madden said."
"The boy did not recognize the man, who was described as being in is 30s or 40s. The van was dark blue."
"Police have increased patrols during bus pickup times, Madden said. School officials as well as the community have been notified, he added."
